Ku.Sal Marginalized Women Organization (KMWO) recently conducted an insightful focus group discussion with the Koch Indigenous community on the critical issue of ‘Prevention and Protection of Gender-Based Violence Against Indigenous Women and Girls.’ This session served as a platform for community members to openly discuss the unique challenges they face regarding gender-based violence and to identify strategies for prevention and protection. The conversation was not only a space for sharing personal experiences but also for collectively brainstorming solutions to combat this deeply rooted issue.
In addition to addressing gender-based violence, the session included an exploration of Advocacy in Practice (AiP) and discussions on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), focusing on how global advocacy efforts can be localized to strengthen the rights of Indigenous women. By engaging the Koch community in these discussions, KMWO reinforced its dedication to building grassroots movements that empower Indigenous women and girls while safeguarding their rights and well-being.
This meaningful exchange highlighted the shared commitment of KMWO and the Koch Indigenous community to take collective action, ensuring that the voices of Indigenous women are heard and that their safety and rights are prioritized in local and global policy discussions.
